February Favorites

Here we go again. A new month equals 5 new favorites, which I bet you were refreshing on Feb 1st in anticipation. I apologize for the delay, but I want to make sure I make quality content with items that I whole heartedly believe in. With that being said, these are just things that I like, I am not trying to push capitalism on anyone and don’t expect everyone to like what I like. I am just a 30-year-old girl who sometimes needs instant gratification or a “treat yourself” moment to feel something. Some may call it impulse control disorder, I call it a Tuesday. But seriously, I am trying not to spend on miscellaneous items and find investment pieces that will last a lifetime. I want to be more sustainable and try to help my other shopaholics to be more intentional when spending money.

  1. The Kindle. If you are anything like me and devour books quicker than you can say “I’ll take two”, then you need the Kindle. It saves paper, money and still supports the author and even better because you can use your library card to rent books through the app. It’s also great for traveling and when you are reading those cheesy romance novels that you don’t want anyone to see the cover of.

  2. Etsy. I am a fool for Etsy. I know I just mentioned not spending money on frivolous things , but this is helping small businesses around the world. This is where I go to find art, jewelry, ceramics, furniture, you name it. I love the feeling of purchasing a one-of-a-kind item that helps makers and creatives achieve economic independence.

  3. Dusen and Dusen bathrobe. There is nothing like wrapping yourself in a thick, cotton robe after an “everything” shower. I’ve had my robe for years and it is still just as fluffy and colorful as when I first bought it. This Brooklyn based company truly speaks for itself. Their textiles alone are abstract perfection with their use of color play and contrast. I highly recommend wrapping yourself in a colorful cocoon.

  4. Everlane. I have been an Everlane stan since the dawn of time. They make my favorite basics and denim that fits a curvy body. It is a great place to start when curating a capsule wardrobe, especially since they believe in ethical factories and radical transparency. They use quality materials that last throughout wear and have a decent price point for well-made garments.

  5. Nike Cortez. If I got a dollar for every time I got a compliment on my brown monochrome Nike Cortez sneakers, I would have 8 dollars. These babies save every outfit, making even sweatpants look cool. Their classic look debuting in 1972 gracing the feet of Forrest Gump and Farrah Fawcett made Nike a household name. With their clean look and inexpensive price tag, you can’t go wrong.
